Project description

I was commissioned by Loaded to create a captivating broadcast graphics package for the Song of Nunu stream, a special event featuring renowned artists Tori Kelly and DEEGAN. My goal was to design visually stunning elements that complemented the music and enhanced the viewing experience.

Timeline

From explorations to final designs in 2 weeks while working with multiple projects at the same time

Background

In honor of the launch of “You & Me Makes Us,” Tori and DEEGAN organized a live stream on Twitch, airing on Tori’s channel on the 13th of December, Wednesday. They engaged in conversation, addressed queries regarding their partnership, premiered the tune in a unique acoustic rendition, and enjoyed a session of gaming with Rowan Parker, the Creative Director of Riot Forge.

Research & Planning

I explored design ideas that captured the whimsical and heartwarming essence of Nunu’s journey through the Freljord. This phase involved generating mood boards and sketches, blending visual elements of snow, adventure, and mythical creatures to reflect the magical feel of the game world.

Design & Prototyping

Using tools like Illustrator and Photoshop, I crafted lower thirds, emotes, and broadcast overlays that were both functional and aesthetically aligned with the game’s branding. For screens, I developed dynamic designs to enhance broadcast transitions and hold screens, ensuring a cohesive look across all visual elements. I aimed for simplicity and readability to ensure the broadcast elements would not distract from the gameplay footage.

Development & Implementation

Adjustments were made to typography sizes, illustration, and color contrast to ensure optimal readability during the live broadcast.

Delivery

The lower thirds, overlays, emotes, and screens were delivered on time, ready for use for the stream.

The broadcast design elements and emotes I developed for Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story significantly enhanced viewer engagement and community interaction across streaming platforms. The game achieved a peak of 295,900 concurrent viewers during promotional streams on Twitch, accompanied by 196 hours of total watch time, indicating sustained interest throughout the broadcasts.

The emotes enhanced chat interactions, receiving positive user feedback, while the overlays and lower thirds ensured a polished broadcast experience. These assets supported adoption across streams and earned industry recognition, reinforcing the game’s promotional efforts
